I think they do. Being a New Zealander and coming to
Australian 8 years ago, I was thrilled to see that ANZAC day and its meaning was both commemorated so beautifully in schools and the children were taught its significance. Often a wreath in Laurel is ordered or paper poppies sold to remember the fallen. I recall seeing these gorgeous flowers growing wild in the fields of northern Europe.

As a Florist is it a pleasure to get an order for such a wreath, placing the purple “Lest we forget “ sash carefully onto each one.

As you reflect on this day yourself with friends and family
give special thought to the Diggers who fought or sacrificed their lives for their country.

From where I sit….

I have the privilege and pleasure to work with beautiful natural flowers everyday. Being a Florist is certainly
a joy.

It all begins on a Monday morning in our Studio at Kavelle Flowers, in the Eastern Suburbs at Coogee.   Mondays are full
of buzz, there will be talk of the wedding that was styled on Saturday and how beautiful everything looked, to what we are using in our corporate arrangements work at the Hilton, Sydney, to the Monday morning flowers for the week.

There is always a new array of colours of the season for the Sydney Eastern suburbs customer. A rainbow of
colours, textures and scents ready for use in beautiful arrangements or fabulous bouquets filled with Lillies, roses in every tone, chrysanthemums, carnations, iris, gerberas, natives and greenery to complement.

I often feel like a child on Christmas morning opening up the brown boxes straight from the flower market. There is anticipation and squeals of delight as the natural delicacies are
carefully lifted, conditioned and watered so they will live again.

My artist’s palette unfolds as beauty is arranged on the studio walls, as vibrant as a freshly painted mural. Careful consideration is taken with each and every order.

Flowers are picked for colour and fragrance, arranged, preened and packaged until they are just perfect! Our flowers are delivered in delightful fashion and with a smile.
….Yes it is good to be a Florist.

What’s coming up?

Soon is that time of year to
think of our Mothers, Aunties, Grandmothers and even daughters as Mothering
Sunday approaches. It is time to be thoughtful, giving, kind and generous to
repay the selfless energy that is given out on a daily basis by these fantastic
women in our lives. There are plenty of ideas for Mothers day at the Studio.
You might like a table arrangement for the family dinner planned, or the
children may like to come up with Dad and pick up that special surprise to be
presented with breakfast in bed.

We have an array of gifts
especially for Mum, come in and sample the gorgeous range of triple scented
candles – we have tantalising scents from a fruity cocktail of Coconut and
lime, fresh Lemongrass and exotic Oriental. The candles are made by a local
business woman – Be enlightened, they are soy wax based and burn up to 80 hours.
Then of course there are bouquets, a mix of lilies and roses is always a
winner, a beautiful box of perfect pinks or perhaps an exotic orchid plant to
grace the mantel. There are hand-creams, soaps and baskets made to order.  You won’t be disappointed by choice.

This must be one of my favourite wedding bouquets of all times.  What was really special about this particular bouquet of roses and orchids was that the bride gave us a photo of her late Mum and we incorporated it into the bouquet.

And the photographer, Michal Kreisch of Global Photography did a wonderful job.
